Institute for Political Science

The Institute of Political Science in Heidelberg was founded in 1958, making it one of the oldest in Germany. On these sites you will find, amongst other things, information about the history of the IPW, the roles and contact details of staff at the Institute, contact details for all members of staff, and current job openings.

The Institute’s strong standing in the field of research is reflected both in reputation surveys conducted by the German Political Science Association (DVPW) and in numerous national and international research projects (funded by the DFG, the Thyssen Foundation, the Volkswagen Foundation, the Bertelsmann Foundation, the EU, etc.), as well as in the diverse and internationally prominent publication record of its researchers.

The ‘Academics’ section is aimed at current students and prospective students. It includes information on degree programmes, their structure and content, registering for exams or courses, and the application process. The Download Centre contains all the relevant documents relating to studying at the IPW.
