Research Profile
Michelle Oks has been a research associate at the Institute for Political Science at the Chair of Prof. Dr. Croissant since January 2026. She studied political science and sociology at the Universities of Heidelberg and Uppsala and completed her Master of Arts in 2025. Her master’s thesis examined the strategies populist parties use to influence civil society in order to instrumentalize it for their political goals.
Her research interests lie in comparative autocratization and democratization research, with a particular focus on the role of populism, protest movements, and civil society in processes of political transformation.
